Celebrating Three Months

Okay, I am almost a week late on posting this, but I've just gotten so darn busy. Maia is going through some needy patches, and I have a huge list of things I am trying to do before I have to return to work in less than two weeks. I probably won't be posting as often as I would like, at least with pictures. Sorry. Given that I have three blogs to maintain, plus a website that is sadly out of date, it's a lot. And that's just the web-presence I have. So, please continue checking in for updates, but just know that they will be fewer, and not as many pictures.

So, let's see. Maia is "talking" a lot now. She is great with the smiling, and once or twice has made sounds of happiness that are probably the beginnings of laughing. She rolls from her back to her sides a lot, and has come close to actually rolling all the way over. She rotates around while laying down, as well. Often we'll lay her in her crib or pack-n-play and come back to find her oriented in a complete 180 degrees difference. She is getting more chunkier in the thighs, and weighed about 12-lbs 5-oz last time I checked (about 3 days ago). She is hit or miss with nights. She sleeps through good chunks of the night, but it seems to depend on when we lay her down finally. If I feed her close to 11pm, she seems to go a good stretch, although lately she has woken up around 5am. Last night I fed her around 9:30 and tried to go to bed by 10 myself, and she woke back up and wouldn't go back to sleep without Matt holding her and laying her on her belly to start off with. *sigh* I really wish she would get more regular. Liam was by this point. *sigh*

Picture time!

Here we are at an SCA event (Toys For Tots)

Big brother Liam loves playing on the playmat with his little sister.

He also loves reading to her, especially "Peter Pan"

I just couldn't catch that smile of hers...too quick for me.

11 week update

Maia is now 11 weeks. We weighed her yesterday and she was 11 pounds 14 ounces, so just about 12 pounds. A few pounds more and she will have outgrown the weight limit for the bassinet and the top portion of her pack-n-play. Actually, last night (well, rather, early this morning) I didn't put her to sleep in her bassinet, I put her in her crib. She fussed on and off, but that's not unusual for the time of morning that it was, so I don't know that it was the move that did it. Regardless, it's another step away from the beginning of her life and towards the rest of her babyhood. Another sign of her growing up.
She sort of sleeps through the night, although we are back to our weird "take turns" schedule. I go to bed after I feed her in the late evening, which is anywhere from 9pm to 11:30pm. Matt stays up playing his games and keeping her quiet if she fusses. Sometimes she sleeps okay, sometimes she fusses. Sometimes Matt has to lay her on her front for a bit until she is well asleep and then he flips her over. At some point he goes to sleep on the couch downstairs (though never while she is still on her front). She usually wants to be fed again anywhere between 4:30 and 7:00am, sort of depending on when I fed her last. At that point Matt goes to bed upstairs, I feed her, and then lay her in her bassinet (and now her crib) and attempt to get a few more hours of sleep. It seems like 5:30 is the crossing line. If it's after that, it's up in the air as to whether she is happy to go back to sleep, or if she fusses for the next few hours, preventing me from sleeping well. If she is too fussy, I take her downstairs and try to find ways to get her to be quiet and maybe actually sleep, so that she doesn't wake up Matt. Not my ideal, but sometimes she sleeps and it works out. Soon we need to get back into just trying to muscle through the night, both of us upstairs and her in her room. *sigh*
My last post described her talking and smiling and such. I need to run now, so I'll have to provide more of an update at a later time. Probably next week.

Quick post

I know, I haven't posted about Maia in a while. Things have been busy, and it's hard to find time to post. Well, really, it's hard to find time to post all the pictures of her that I want to. I can find time to type up things about her, but I always want to add pictures, and those take a while to do...to offload them from the camera or iPhone, go through them and pick which ones I want, and then upload them to the blog site 5 at a time, shuffle them around in the blog posting, and finally add captions where appropriate.

So here's just a few pictures for now, to tide you guys over.

That last one was the closest I had to one of her smiles. She has GREAT wide smiles, but it's hard to capture them. As soon as I get out the camera, so stares at it and doesn't really want to smile at it. Guess only my face is goofy enough.

Oh, as for stats, she weighed 11 pounds at her 2-month appointment, which was a week or so ago. She is probably a few ounces more, since she eats pretty well and has some good chunkiness going on around her legs and arms. Totally awesome smiles, and lots of good "conversations". And she holds her head up like a pro. We rarely have to support it, which is apparently an amazing thing for her age.
