Catching up

Okay, I finally got the rest of the images off the camera and figured I would post them up here. It looks like all of them are from when Granny was visiting in early February. I thought maybe there were some newer pictures, but I guess not. And I think after this we are just going to start using just our iPhones.
Hey, I was wrong. I found a few other pictures on my phone that I forgot about. This is Maia with her "kitten mitten" hands. She has eczema and is always scratching her wrists and ankles on the carpet, so we lotion up her hands and put socks on them so that it soaks in without her rubbing/sucking it off.
Maia is learning how to drink out of a juice cup. She licks at it with her tongue and makes a huge mess, but the watery grape juice was a hit.

Found a few more pictures, from an SCA event. This is from our Baronial Birthday event on March 17th.

PICTURES!

HERE THEY COME! (from the last two months)
Maia has just finished enjoying a bath in the kitchen sink (I think I did it to make it easier on my back)

Maia was having fun with orange peels

Baskets are always fun, right?

Little Miss Hookhand. ARggghhhh!

Maia, trying to stand up on the bed (and wearing the sweater I made for her)

Here is a better shot of the sweater I made for her. The yarn is super-soft. Mmmmmm...

Maia at an SCA event, thoroughly enjoying an orange. Heh.

Trying her hand at a musical instrument.

Okay, don't judge...this is just the container Matt used to transport Maia's bottles to Daycare. They were amused. At least for the first week. After that, they suddenly decided that it probably wasn't professional. Oops.

Liam is demonstrating how to do Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog), a yoga pose.

And Maia gives it a try herself.

These next few pictures are from Liam's Kid Birthday Party, at an indoor play place. Maia seemed to love it. (FYI, Liam picked out Maia's shirt for the day...he insisted on the pirate one, since his birthday theme was pirates.)

And here are a collection of brother/sister pictures. Enjoy!

11 Months Old

My little girl is now 11 months and just growing by leaps and bounds. I promise that pictures are forthcoming, but I have been busy spending my "free" time doing tons of yard work. So right you just get a few more verbal updates.
So, Maia is now fully a knee-crawler. She is relatively fast, and will also drop to her belly when stopping to manipulate something, or to turn back to look at something. She still wants to walk everywhere, though she seems more content now that she can crawl and also "travel". In the last few days, so has actually stretched her arms out to the limit when transferring from one stable "travel" surface to another, so she is getting braver.
Two more teeth have snuck their way in. I didn't realize they were there, mainly because it is hard to see the top of her mouth and she is very opinionated about letting is look. So it was only when she slipped while crawling (don't ask me how she managed that...I watched it happen and I still don't understand it) and bashed her mouth just right to start bleeding and require investigation, that I found out she had two teeth coming in. Both pretty much the same length. Looks like maybe they had popped through a few days earlier.
I think Maia is almost done with breast feeding. I would LOVE to feed her for many more months, but a combination of things seem to have severely reduced my milk supply, and Maia is often more interested in playing. There are times when she doesn't want to bother with me because nothing is coming out right away and she has more important things to do. And of course, the less she drinks, the less stimulation I am getting and hence the less milk I am producing. *sigh* So much for getting to two years. I will be lucky to get to a year. I am surprised to have even made it this far. Just one more month and I think I can be happy.
Not sure I have much more to add, since I just posted an update on her a few days ago. I'll have to come back with pictures in the next few days.

Growing Girl

I know, I am way behind on posts and pictures, and I promise they are coming. It's crazy how little time I have, and now that Spring has sprung, the gardens are demanding my attention. But I WILL post! It's supposed to rain this weekend, so I should be able to make time.

Anyway, some quick updates.
First, Maia is almost 11 months. I didn't post at her 10-month mark in February (oops), and on Thursday she will have reach 11 months. So I am two months behind on pictures. Eep. I weighed her last week (I think), and she was about 19-lbs. She feels heavier. Which is part of the reason we upgraded her carseat. Liam was the other reason...he was outgrowing his carseat, so we got him a booster seat and gave his carseat to Maia. It's much bigger, and now we don't have to cart her around in the carrier.

Maia is moving like crazy. She can move quickly across the floor, in a combo of belly crawling and actual knee crawling. She can quickly pull herself up to standing using various surfaces (couch, chair legs, tv-tray legs, toys, pillows, walls, gates, other people's pants). She is "traveling" very well now, and will even transfer from hand-hold object to hand-hold object (gate bars to chair to another chair), as long as she can reach it. No steps without support yet. But she is getting way braver. Saturday night, she traveled back and forth the length of the coffee table, at a 45-degree angle...which means she held on with one hand, and was barely using the outside/forward hand. She also wants us to walk her everywhere, and she no longer just goes whereever you take her, at a fast pace...she takes her time, meandering where she wants, and she definitely has an opinion on which way she wants to walk (or not walk). If you leave her alone in her gated-off area, she complains loudly and jiggles the gate bars. heh. Not too long before she is fully walking. By a year? It's only one more month, but with the way she keeps advancing, seems like its a possibility.

OH, we just took Maia to an allergist today to see if she has more than just eczema, since she is constantly scratching at her wrists and ankles and chin and the back of her neck. So far the only other allergy besides milk (they didn't even want to test her on that, they were convinced by the info we gave them) is eggs, both whites and yolks, which is apparently normal/expected for children with eczema. But I am supposed to limit/cut out eggs and cow's milk from my diet until I am done with breastfeeding her. Back to Silk it is.

What else? I am running out of time. She hasn't really changed in the "talking" departments. Lots of sounds, nothing really noticeable. Nothing I would note as a recognizeable word. She understands some of what we say. And I think she knows her name now. She definitely knows Mommy, Daddy, and Liam when we say it.

Okay, gotta run. Check back by the end of the weekend to see if I have finally put up pictures. But I have Liam's pictures to also put up, that I started but didn't finish.
